Our Journey to More Light

When the United and College Avenue Churches merged in 2016 to become LoveJoy United Presbyterian Church, the new congregation approved a plan to make the inclusivity of LGBTQ+ people one of LoveJoy United’s Core Values. After COVID-19 delays, we have made this a top priority in 2022.

Matthew 25 Teach-In on Inclusivity

Our Matthew 25 Goalkeepers for this initiative, Sarah Carnes and Michael Musgrave–Perkins, along with Kolby Carnes, gave three Teach-In sessions to the congregation in the latter half of 2022.

Session 1

This first session is on terminology and how we speak in ways that are respectful and inclusive of our LGBTQ+ siblings.

Session 2

Session two examines the various identities people carry: gender, sex, race, class, etc. and how those intersect and relate.

Unfortunately, Session 2 could not be recorded.

Session 3

The third session examines how we can ‘walk the walk’ when it comes to loving and welcoming our LGBTQ+ siblings.
